Are Samsung Smart TVs Dual Voltage? Helpful lessons

Are Samsung Smart TVs Dual Voltage

A friend of mine asked me: are Samsung smart TVs dual voltage? He was thinking about getting a new TV for a workshop where they had a different voltage than at home. There are many benefits to owning a Samsung Smart TV that other TVs can’t provide. But what exactly can a Samsung Smart TV do for you? Are all these TVs dual voltage?

Samsung Smart TVs are dual voltage, meaning they can work worldwide, no matter where you are, as long as you have the appropriate plug adapter. To ensure it can handle the dual voltage, you must open the back cover and check the input voltage, which should read 100-240v 50/60 Hz.

It’s very good news to find out that you can use your Samsung smart TV in any type of country or just to plug it on different receptacles without being worried about destroying it!

But besides this huge advantage, there certain features that you need to know before using your TV in 220v

Well, I’ll be going in-depth into the benefits of dual voltage, how you can identify whether your TV is dual voltage and other cool facts about dual voltage devices. Stick with me a little longer to know how you can expand your Samsung smart TV knowledge!

How to Identify Whether Your TV Is Dual Voltage

Most Samsung TVs are dual voltage, but it’s better to be 100% sure by checking the power supply board before plugging it, which can be found inside your Samsung Smart TV.

Below, I’ll go step by step into how you can do this correctly for you to establish whether your TV is dual voltage or not.

Open The Back of Your Smart TV: For the Techies

To ensure your Samsung TV is dual voltage, you’ll want to inspect the input that’s written inside. To do this, open the back of your TV, which will expose your device’s inside mechanics.

Sounds tricky, but nothing a good screwdriver can’t do. As the screws are too small sometimes, make sure to use the proper one, you don’t want to destroy the bolt’s head, really.

Once you’ve opened your TV, you’ll face the power supply board and the video board.

There should be a table with specs on it, and the input should say 100-240v 50/60 Hz. As you can see, the numbers here largely range, therefore making the device dual voltage. Cool, now you are 100% sure!

Identifying The Input On Your Device

As I stated above, if these numbers range by a large amount, your device can handle a wide variety of voltages. If the numbers don’t largely range, it is most likely only compatible in one part of the world.

For example, within Europe and many other countries, the appropriate voltage required for devices to work ranges from 220v-240v.

In the U.S, the standard outlet contains 120v-140v. Therefore you should be using devices that range in between these numbers when in those parts of the world.

If your Samsung Smart TV contains numbers that exist within a large range, you know it’s capable of working worldwide and is, therefore, dual voltage.

In the video below, you can get another inside look at how to determine whether multiple devices are dual voltage.

While most Samsung Smart TV models are dual voltage, you must check your device to ensure you can use it just to be sure. Now if you’re planning to use it outside the U.S. it’s also crucial to invest in the correct plug adapter for your dual voltage smart TV.

Even if your smart TV is dual voltage, it’s important to have all the necessary equipment like an adapter or converter to make your device functional worlwide.
