You can turn on the lights and start blinking them or if you own an august smart lock you could unlock it to let someone that you know to get inside.
If you have an outside smart security camera you could tell them to start recording in case someone is trying to break in.
It is a matter of convenience and imagination.

What if you bought something that is bigger than your mailbox and they have to put it in your front door? And you’re working or outside and didn’t even know that it arrives? You could expose it to be stolen!
