Television sets have become very advanced in the last few years.
We now have Smart TVs that can do more than any TV has ever done before.
One of the most significant advantages of owning a Smart TV is the accessibility settings, including voice control, high contrast screens, and larger screen font sizes.
Here’s how you can change the font size on a Samsung Smart TV:
- Make sure there are batteries in your remote.
- Turn on your TV.
- Navigate to the home screen.
- Open your TV settings.
- Open your system settings.
- Select Accessibility.
- Select enlarge.
- Return to your home screen.
I’ll tell you exactly how to perform each of these steps on your Samsung Smart TV to enlarge your screen font size. After I go through the process, I’m also going to teach you an easy shortcut, so be sure to keep reading!
1. Make Sure There Are Batteries in Your Remote
First, you’ll need to ensure your TV remote has working batteries.
A working remote is necessary as you’ll need it to turn on your TV and navigate through the different menus.
If you need to install new batteries, remove the back cover from your remote.
When you turn the remote over, you should see an arrow on one end, telling you which way to slide the cover. Press the back of the remote and slide the cover in the direction that the arrow is pointing.
After you remove the cover, you can place your new batteries in the remote.
2. Make Sure Your TV Is Turned On
Next, you’re going to want to make sure that you turn on your TV.
There should be a small red button towards the top of your remote control.
Hold down that button, and your TV should come on.
If you have any trouble using the remote to turn on the TV, you can also turn it on manually.
Samsung TVs have a physical power button that you can use.
Depending on the model that you have, the power button may be in a few different places.
Be sure to check under, on the sides, and the back of the TV for the power button.
Keep in mind that the button you’re looking for maybe a touch button instead of a physical button.
In this case, you’ll need to consistently touch the power icon instead of physically pushing the button.
After you turn on your TV, you’ll want to navigate to your home screen.
Using your remote, click the Home button.
This button should be located towards the center of your remote, typically under the navigation arrows, and depicts a small house icon on the button.
4. Open Your TV Settings
From your home screen, use the directional arrows on your remote to navigate to your Settings menu.
This menu should be located on the bottom left of your screen and has a little gear icon next to the word settings.
Once you’ve navigated to the settings menu, click the center Select button on your remote to open the menu.
This button is in the middle of your directional arrows.
5. Open Your System Settings
After your settings menu is open, you’ll see different settings options on the left side of the menu.
Using your navigation arrows on your remote, go to the System settings.
Once you’ve highlighted the System menu, click your center Select button to open.
6. Select Accessibility
The System menu should now be showing on your screen. You should see several options, including Accessibility.
In the accessibility menu, you’ll find many options that make it easier for viewers to use the TV.
Some of these features include voice guiding, contrasting the screen, and font enlargement. Navigate to the accessibility menu and press your center button to select this option.
7. Select Enlarge
Towards the bottom of your accessibility menu, you’ll see a feature listed named Enlarge.
Currently, you’ll see that this setting is Off.
Using your remote, navigate to the Enlarge feature and click Select.
From here, you’ll be given a drop-down with the option to select On or Off.
Select On to turn on this feature.
8. Return to Your Home Screen
After turning on the Enlarge feature, you can navigate back to your TV’s home screen and move on with your TV viewing!
Just like step three, click the Home button located under your navigation arrows to return to the home screen.
From here, the text on your screen will now be in a larger font size.
Change the Font Size Using the Voice Command Shortcut
One of the best features of a Smart TV is voice control, and the Samsung Smart TV is no different!
If you have the Voice Assistant on your Samsung TV turned on, you can use a little shortcut to change your TV font settings.
This shortcut will allow you to skip most of the steps outlined above and get you back to your favorite show as fast as possible.
After you have batteries in your remote and your TV turned on (steps one and two), click the voice control button. This button is located at the top of your remote and has a small microphone icon.
Click and hold this button while you say, “Open Accessibility in Settings.”
This command will automatically open the Accessibility menu on your TV.
From here, you can jump straight to step seven!
By following the shortcut outlined above, the steps to enlarge your font size will be as follows:
- Make sure there are batteries in your remote.
- Turn on your TV.
- Use voice command to open the accessibility menu.
- Select enlarge.
- Return to your home screen.
Final Thoughts
