Why Is the Cast Button Not Showing Up on Amazon Prime?

Why Is the Cast Button Not Showing Up on Amazon Prime

The cast button on the Amazon Prime app creates a connection between web receivers to let you connect, disconnect, and control the communication.

This button turns a different color when the device you’re casting from connects to a TV, tablet, or another device, but sometimes the button disappears.

The Cast button will not show up on Amazon Prime for several reasons. When you follow the troubleshooting steps, you’ll find the specific reason why the cast button isn’t there. If you complete all the steps and the button is still missing, you need to seek help from customer support.

This article will explain why the cast button isn’t showing up on your Amazon Prime, how to proceed through each troubleshooting step.

We’ll also tell you what you should do when the troubleshooting measures don’t work.

1. The Cast Button Is Only Available on a Chromecast Device

Most modern TVs support Chromecast.

If your television is older, it’ll work with Chromecast as long as there’s an HDMI port.

But there’s only one way to be completely sure.

How To Fix

Here’s the way to determine if the TV is Chromecast-enabled.

  1. Press the HOME button on the TV remote.
  2. Select the Settings icon.
  3. Choose apps, then see all apps, then show system apps, then Google Chromecast Built-in, and finally, enable.
  4. Verify that the Chromecast app on your TV is 2.9 or newer.

2. Ensure the Prime Video App Is Current

Your device should be running the most current software.

On your iOS or Android device, check to make sure that’s the case.

On an Android device, update Google Play Services, too.

You must connect the Android and iOS device to the same wifi as the Chromecast device.

If you don’t see the cast button on the Prime Video app, you should check the app settings.

How To Fix

  1. Enable the option in your phone setting to “access local network.”
  2. Once you enter settings, scroll down to Prime video, and turn on “local network.”

This option allows your device to connect with other devices on the same network.

3. You Need To Reboot the System

Another reason your device isn’t showing up when you cast from Chrome is that your device needs rebooting.

This is a common problem with many electronic devices, but it’s so easy that most people just ignore it.

How To Fix

To reboot your Chromecast device, do the following:

  1. Unplug the power cable from the Chromecast device and wait two minutes.
  2. Check if the TV or tablet you want to cast to is available.

4. Verify That the Chromecast Device Is Set Up Correctly

When casting to a new device, you might need to verify the device is set up correctly.

Be sure that the Chromecast device you are using is 3rd generation or newer.

How To Fix

  1. Unplug the power source to the router and wait three or four minutes.
  2. Locate the settings on your TV and choose System.
  3. Choose About and finally, select Factory Reset.

This process will reset your Chromecast device back to factory settings.

5. You Could Have an Issue With Your Laptop

When you’re trying to cast from a laptop and are unsuccessful, the issue might be with the computer. Casting from a laptop happens from the Google Chrome browser.

How To Fix

Be sure to:

  • Use the Google Chrome Browser app.
  • Cast using the Google Cast menu in the app.
  • Reboot your laptop if the process doesn’t work and try again.
  • Confirm your Chrome Browser is updated.

6. Ensure You’re Following the Correct Streaming Steps

While there are times when you want to watch something on your phone or tablet, you want the full experience when watching movies.

If you can’t find the cast button on Amazon Prime, make sure you’re doing the right things.

How To Fix

Casting From an Android Phone

Here’s the process to cast from an android phone. Follow the steps for successful casting.

  1. Open your Android device and go to the Prime Video app.
  2. Power on your smart TV
  3. Double-check to ensure both devices connect to the same wifi.
  4. Tap the cast icon on the right bottom corner of your Android screen.
  5. Connect to the smart TV or choice of streaming device.
  6. Choose the device you wish to use.
  7. Choose your show or movie and it’ll stream on your device.

Casting From an iPhone

  1. Open your iPhone device and go to the Prime Video app.
  2. Ensure both devices are accessing the same internet connection.
  3. Locate the video you want to watch.
  4. Tap the cast icon (if the icon isn’t visible, tap the video and it should appear).
  5. Choose your device to watch Amazon Prime.
  6. The video will begin playing on your TV, tablet, or another device.

7. The Amazon Prime Cast Button Has Disappeared but Was There Previously

If you’re new to the Amazon Prime Cast button, one possible reason the cast button isn’t appearing is you haven’t followed the steps to keep it on the Toolbar permanently.

Pinning the cast button to the toolbar will give you better access to cast from any web page or app like Amazon Prime.

How To Fix

Start by clicking in the upper right-hand corner of your Chrome browser.

Then, the cast button should appear on the toolbar.

When you want the cast button to remain there permanently, right-click the cast button and choose “Always show icon.”

Why Is the Cast Button Not Showing Up on Amazon Prime: Summary

When you can’t find the cast button for Amazon Prime, most of the time, it’s a simple fix like making sure both devices are on the same wifi connection.

Other times, you might need to do a little more investigation.

It could be that your Android phone or iPhone needs an update to the Amazon Prime app, or your smart TV could need an app update.

While trying to determine why the cast button is frustrating, you can always resort to resetting and rebooting your devices which should remedy the problem.
