Is Google home an IoT device?

Introduction

iNTERNET OF THINGS

Is Google home an IoT device? That was a really interesting question that I made myself this morning.

Iot is an incredible and powerful tool that is exploding in growth, and you and I agree that it will become our future. I did some research about the topic and this is what I’ve found:

As a network-connected device, Google Home has an extensive capability to share information back and forward to the internet making it a versatile IoT device. As it’s connected to the web, it doesn’t require human-to-human interaction to acquire information.

Knowing this, it opens up our eyes to see the whole spectrum!

Technology is an ever-growing topic that will only get better as it evolves!

In this article, I’ll explain in simple words what it’s like to engage with an IoT device like Google Home and learn its benefits and disadvantages

How Google Home and IoT works

IoT is a system that allows computers and digital machines to transfer data between them and learn along the way

Google Home, in this case specifically, shares information to the web to give you accurate data on nearly any type of question that you do to it!

All the time, your favorite smart speaker is being flooded with information online so you can take advantage of it as much as you can.

What I love about Google Home is its voice assistant.

Compared to Alexa or Cortana, Google Assistant is way more interactive and, in my opinion, more intelligent than its competitors

And having the best virtual assistant in the market makes your IoT device a cool option

Because no matter how you arrange a question to your Google Home, it will make the connection to the web substantially faster and give you a straight answer in a matter of seconds

You can ask questions to it, and it will immediately work as an IoT device with some serious knowledge.

In the following image, you’ll get a general idea if you haven’t figured it out already how this process goes:

HOW IOT WORKS

Your Google Home is connected to the internet all the time you activate it saying: Ok Google!

Immediately you ask whatever you want, it will ask for the nearest server to give you the best possible answer to your question.

As Google has put so much money and energy developing artificial intelligence on their virtual assistant,

This digital machine will give you answers like no other!

And the process grows when you think about all the possibilities that your Google Home has.

For example, you can pair certain smart home products to your Google Home with your voice!

And to do this is necessary for the IoT device to engage with a database to evaluate if it’s compatible with Google Home

And then it checks if it’s possible to pair it through a voice command

All of these verifications happen in nanoseconds to give a straight answer.

How IoT benefits Google Home

Google Home is taking out the most of the IoT world with their device

But how is that possible?

Because once Google home reaches the servers where all the information about Google Assistant is at the same time, learning how the users interact with their devices

This continuous connection gives information to Google to know what works best for you primarily and how they can improve your user experience

This is huge! Because this will allow the Artificial intelligence behind all of that to nurture your Smart Home in ways that haven’t seen yet in real life!

As long Google Home keeps tweaking the interaction with the user and expanding the possibilities, this cool IoT device promises to transform your house on a futuristic one!

Let’s say you have a certain problem with your smart blinds.

You can’t program it the way you want it using your Google Home for some reason.

Whether you want to open them only half of it, or doing some weird schedules

The problem is there, and some other smart home users have the same issue

Google follows that a good amount of people if struggling with their smart blind configuration through the speaker

Now, they can start optimizing the process to make it easy for you!

And that’s a normal example, think about what you are struggling in your Smart Home.

Some times in my experience, pairing certain sensors through the voice assistant is not even possible.

But as Google Home benefits by the IoT technology, I know this problem in the future will be gone

Is it bad that Google Home is an IoT device?

Thinking about the cons of Google Home being an IoT device for sure raise certain alarms.

For most old people that aren’t so thrilled with technology like us

Tend to think that IoT is bad because people will try to hurt you in your smart home.

And in a way, I get them

But once you understand how everything works, you shouldn’t think that is a bad idea.

All technological companies need to respect their users at all times

If any government finds out that there is a breach of information because of them

Sues will be enormous! And probably they will go to bankruptcy in no time.

Sure, Amazon got a huge lawsuit because they were recording all the information on all Echo Devices

And when Google knew this was such a bad idea, they immediately made an update where you can review exactly all of the information that is shared with your device

You have control over it 100% and it won’t be used for any other purpose than to help you in your home.

So, don’t think that your smart home is going to be threatened because Google Home is an IoT device.

Instead, try to understand that this is a good thing!

Google Home will improve a lot thanks to you and the internet!!

I just want you to think about 4 years ago when Google Assistant was launched.

It was an awful virtual assistant!

I remembered that when you asked it something, it didn’t recognize correctly the words

It couldn’t make a simple search in google properly

In short, it was useless.

But Google took advantage of the IoT Technology to make it what it is today!

A super user-friendly virtual helper that understands pretty much everything regardless of your accent and even your grammar mistakes!

Smart home and IoT for Google Home

Most people that don’t know exactly what IoT is

Tend to think that it is only for smart devices and Home automation!

And even though, the Smart home market and IoT and strongly correlated

It doesn’t mean that is the whole purpose of it.

You can find IoT in the industry, where robots manufacture cars and practically any type of process that is automated with technology connected

And Google is well aware of that

After the years, Google has started to see homes as an excellent chance to make it better with technology

And now, you can even create your own smart home around it.

Some serious gadgets work with Google Assistant that for sure will make your home an IoT paradise.

And seeing this trend only going up

I bet that we will see incredible technology in our homes

Because as IoT is practically everywhere, all the process that is being automated and all the learning curves that occurs in the industry, medicine, and other areas

It can be copied and put it in your Home!

All the engineers that are working with IoT are tweaking processes and making it better.

Once they have a breakthrough in other areas, we will see our Smart home to become super comfortable and user friendly for all of us.

And we are all lucky enough to see what is going to happen in the future.

Arriving at home will become an experience that is going to be evolving all the way.

Conclusion

Google Home is an IoT device with the sole purpose of making your life at home easier and happier any time you use it.

The benefits behind IoT give to google home the ability to create and manage the smart home you desire keeping in mind the user above everything!

IoT is going to be the future of our homes and it will only be better and better after time happens!

Let technology to change your life in the way you deserve!
