How To Share Ring Bridge Control With Other Users

Sharing Ring Bridge control with your family members and loved ones is a quick, straightforward process.

As the account owner, you can add, edit, and remove shared users with the tap of a button.

To share Ring Bridge control with other users, you need to:

  1. Download the ring app.
  2. Tap on the Settings tab at the top of your dashboard.
  3. Tap on “Devices”.
  4. Select your Ring Bridge device.
  5. Scroll on the menu and choose “Shared User”.
  6. Input the email of the person you want to grant access to.
  7. Tap on “Add User” and send an invite.
  8. Have the shared user accept the invite via email.

In this article, I will take you through each step so you can add, edit and delete shared users in no time.

1. Download the Ring App

If you still haven’t installed the Ring app on your phone, now it’s the time to do so.

Without the app, you can’t share the device control with other users or access different important settings and features.

Luckily, downloading the app is a simple, user-friendly process,

You can download the Ring app on the App Store and Google play free of charge.

Following this link, your device will automatically download the correct version compatible with your operating system.

The app will allow you to manage all controls of your Ring device from your phone, including granting access to other users.

After the download is complete, you can launch the app and create an account using a username and password used for your device’s store page.

Afterward, you’ll want to connect all your Ring devices to your profile, including the Ring Bridge.

You can find more information regarding setting up your profile here.

After your profile is complete, it only takes a couple of minutes to grant access for a device to another user.

2. Tap on the Settings Tab at the Top of Your Dashboard

If you look in the upper left corner of your Ring dashboard, you will see an icon with three horizontal lines.

Tapping on it will give you access to the side menu.

When opening this menu, you’ll access the app’s other functions and settings.

3. Tap on “Devices”

Scroll down the side menu mentioned above to find a tab called “Devices.”

Tapping on this tab will allow you to take a look at each of the devices set up in this location.

During this step, you can check if your Ring Bridge is properly connected to your device.

This process is essential; otherwise, you can’t manage the Bridge’s features from your phone.

Therefore, if you don’t see your device on the list, you’ll need to retry adding your device to the app.

Adding a new device can also be done in this same tab within a minute or two.

If you want a step-by-step explanation of how to add a new device to your app, check out this Ring Support page.

4. Select Your Ring Bridge Device

After you see the Ring Bridge you want to share access to, select it, and you’ll be redirected to the device’s menu on the app.

In this menu, you can adjust every setting and control every function for this device.

5. Scroll on the Menu and Choose “Shared User”

Now that the menu has appeared, you can look for a tab called “Shared User.”

Note that this tab is placed towards the bottom of the settings list, so you may need to scroll a bit further before finding it.

When you see the “Shared User” button, tap on it and expect a new window to appear.

6. Input the Email of the Person You Want To Grant Access To

On the page that appears, you’ll find a writable bracket requiring you to input the person’s email you want to grant access to.

This email should be already registered on the Ring App database; otherwise, you can’t grant access to your shared user.

If the shared user doesn’t have a Ring account, they need to create an account on the app and give you the address before continuing with the following step.

7. Tap on “Add User” and Send an Invite

Now that a usable email address has been input, you can click on “Add User.

Afterward, you’ll want to click on the “Send Invite” button found at the bottom of the screen.

An invite offering access to your Ring Bridge should be sent to your chosen person via email.

8. Have the Shared User Accept the Invite via Email

At this point, your work as the device owner is done.

The recipient should open their email, where they’ll see an invitation requiring them to identify themselves using their Ring App credentials.

After doing so, they can gain access to the whole system.

They will now show up on your shared user list, and you can simply tap on their name to give them access to any other devices.

Shared users will have permission to watch any live videos or recordings and receive any notifications that the owner gets on their phone regarding the Ring Bridge.

They can also view event history and access important controls over the device, such as locking and unlocking connected locks and disarming the alarm system.

On the other hand, they can’t control the device’s Ring account directly as the owners can.

You can remove or edit a shared user if you want the granted access to be temporary.

To do so, go onto the respective tab and click on the profile you wish to edit.

Afterward, tap the “Delete” tab or make other necessary edits and save your changes.

Final Thoughts

Sharing Ring Bridge control with other users is a simple eight-step process.

If you and the other person have active Ring app accounts, you can grant device control in a matter of minutes.

This way, you can make sure another trusted person has access to the videos and other data from your Ring Bridge for added security.
