How to Reset Your Hisense TV Password With the Reset Button

So, what happens if you no longer have the remote, or maybe it’s broken, and you need to reset the password?

You can easily do this using the reset button or the Hisense app. Most Hisense TVs have one, so this shouldn’t be a problem.
Here’s how to use the reset button if your TV has one:

1. Locate the Reset Button Behind Your TV Screen

Unfortunately, not all Hisense TVs have a reset button.

For those that do, it’s going to be a button pinhole located somewhere at the back of the TV (near all the USB, HDMI, 3.5mm jack, and other inputs).

Refer to the TV user manual to find out whether your TV has one and to locate it.

2. Get a Sharp Object That Can Reach the Button

The reset button is concealed in a tiny hole that’s hard to reach without a sharp object.

Use a toothpick, pen, screwdriver, or paper clip to press the reset button.

Avoid using needles as they’re too sharp and not large enough to press it.

3. Press and Hold the Reset Button for 15 Seconds

Next, press and hold the reset button for 15–20 seconds or until your TV turns off and boots back up again.

This gives a reset command to your TV to restore the default settings.

As you may have guessed, all data will now be wiped off completely from your TV.

4. Take a Few Minutes To Complete the Fresh Password Setup

At this point, your Hisense TV is good as new.

When creating a new password, try coming up with something you won’t forget as easily.

You may also want to write it down if you’re not concerned about family members finding it.

Take a few minutes to set your new password. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Hit the MENU button, which should display the System Lock settings
  2. Use the right and down arrow buttons to navigate to the System Lock icon (the icon that looks like a shield with a lock inside it)
  3. Select the System Lock and click OK
  4. A password field pops up. Enter the default Hisense password — 0000.
  5. Next, go down to Set Password.
  6. Type in the default password, followed by your new password and a confirmation of the new password.
  7. Turn on the system lock.

Alternative Methods for Resetting Your Hisense TV Password

1. Factory Reset

A factory reset deletes everything on the TV from the settings, apps, and so on.

It restores your TV to its default settings.

Although this is a sure way to “unlock” your TV, it should come last. After all, you probably don’t want to lose all your settings and apps.

However, consider a factory reset if your Hisense TV is plagued with other issues such as:

  • Crashes
  • Black screens
  • Booting issues, etc.

The factory reset will restore your Hisense TV’s password to its default (0000).

Note that the method here may not work on an older model.

Here’s how to go about it:

  1. Press the home button on your remote.
  2. Navigate to the settings icon at the very top and press Okay.
  3. Go to Device preferences and click Okay.
  4. Find the reset option at the bottom and select it.
  5. The system will prompt you to erase all your personal information.
  6. Select Erase Everything to complete your factory reset.

So, now that you know how to factory reset an old smart Hisense TV, let’s hear how to reset an older model:

  1. Hold the exit button for 15 seconds until the Factory Service menu pops up on your screen.
  2. Press OK.
  3. Turn the TV back on after 15-20 seconds.

2. Use the RemoteNow App

Even without the traditional remote and a reset button, you can still reset your Hisense TV.

RemoteNow app is a virtual remote for your Hisense TV.

It works just like the actual remote. You can download the Android or iOS version on your phone to start using it:

  1. Make sure your mobile device and TV share the same network wirelessly or via an ethernet cable.
  2. Launch the RemoteNow app and locate your TV on the Detected Available Devices.
  3. Navigate to the application’s settings menu and select Device Preferences.
  4. Click Reset.
  5. Click Erase Everything to confirm the reset.

Using the RemoteNow app also resets your TV to its default settings, which also resets your TV password back to the default one (0000).

3. Reset the Parental Control Password

The good news is that you don’t have to factory reset your TV if you only forgot the parental control password.

Also, if you want to block inappropriate content, you might want to change the current password because the kids may still easily access it.

Here are the steps to reset the parental control password:

  1. Open the menu settings.
  2. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the System settings and select parental controls.
  3. Enable parental control. A password input window should come up.
  4. Type in the initial password for parental control, which is 1234, and confirm.
  5. If you put in a new parental control password, enter the factory reset code 0532, which should restore it to 0000.
  6. Enter the old pin (1234 or 0000), then the new pin, and confirm the new pin.

Now, your kids are safe from harmful content.
