In the article below, you will learn how to effectively and quickly do this process.
1. Log Into Your Account on a Browser or Desktop, or Through the Provided Link on Your Alexa App
The Alexa, or Echo, device is a part of your Amazon account. Login to your Amazon.com account on a desktop or browser, such as Safari, Google, or Firefox, for example.

1. Login with your information. | 1. Once you’ve logged into the app, you can go to the profile settings and click on “Remove an Alexa Profile.” You cannot remove a profile directly in the app and still need to use a browser to complete this action. 2. The app will direct you to “Manage Your Profiles” by using this link in a browser: https://www.amazon.com/manage-your-profiles/home. This link will prompt you to log into your Amazon account and take you directly to all family profiles. |
Voice Commands and Removal Process Logistics
The creation of different profiles allows different options and experiences for the household users as regulated by the primary account holder to allow for accessibility and the control of content for various ages.
Alexa helps connect related smart devices in your home using voice commands.
These voice commands can be set up to recognize all of the family members you add to the account.
The software in Alexa can learn the individual pitches and tones of different people by listening to lines of spoken text from each person during the profile set up.
If your child needs a new voice profile as they age and their voice matures, you do not necessarily need to remove their whole profile.
Instead, you can edit their original voice profile through the setting in the app.
However, as your child changes status from “child” to “teen,” you can remove their child profile and make a new teen one.
A teen profile will require an email address or phone number, which you may need to set up for them.
Voice commands cannot be used to remove a family member to protect the integrity and security of the account.
Profile Logistics
As a special note of interest, an account holder on Amazon can add up to four kids (ages 12 and under), four teens (ages 13-17), and only one other adult (18+).
The other adult may have their own account, but it is connected to the “household.”
Teens also have their own login credentials, but some restrictions can be placed upon purchasing and other access from their accounts.
The number of people, especially adults, may be limiting for some households, creating the need to only put people on the account that will genuinely use it.

4. Inform the Person That They Have Been Removed
This is an optional step, but it may be helpful to the removed person to know that they can no longer access their profile and related services.
If an adult has been removed, that individual will not be able to rejoin for 180 days (6 months).
This could create a problem if you try to transfer an adult to a different account or accidentally remove someone.
If this is the case, you will need to contact customer support at Amazon. You can request to remove the 6-month ban or reset the account to add someone back in.
