Can I Use Facebook on Google Nest Hub? An Out-Of-The-Box Guide

Can I Use Facebook on Google Nest Hub

If you have a Google Nest Hub, you’re probably already using it for many cool things, including displaying photos, playing videos, and using your Nest Hub as a camera. However, you may be wondering whether you can use apps such as Facebook.

You can use Facebook on Google Nest Hub, but not directly. You need to use Chromecast for additional apps, such as Facebook, to cast the app to the Google Nest Hub. In essence, it’s your phone that’s still doing the work of running the app, and the Nest Hub is just acting as a display.

Today, we’ll explore what this looks like and how you can start casting Facebook to your Nest Hub. Let’s jump in!

Facebook on the Google Nest Hub

The Google Nest Hub is useful for a huge variety of tasks that can be used for many things, including:

  • Getting directions.
  • Controlling extra things in your house through voice commands.
  • Streaming videos.
  • Displaying pictures.
  • As a recording device.

Surprisingly, the Nest Hub can also be used to cast apps, and once you cast the app using Chromecast, you can navigate on the Google Nest Hub.

But ultimately, the phone is still running the background application.

Can you use Facebook on the Google Nest Hub?

You can, but it’s almost not worth the trouble to do so.

Usually, the point of an extra device is so that you don’t need to use your phone.

Instead, you can use the other device.

Still, it’s worth knowing how to use Facebook on the Google Nest Hub, particularly if you are utilizing Facebook to watch various videos or something else that doesn’t require constant scrolling.

Let’s talk about how to use Chromecast.

Using Chromecast To Cast Facebook to Your Google Nest Hub

Chromecast is a streaming media adapter built by Google to allow users to play content on other devices.

It allows the user to sync multiple devices so that when one device runs, the other is displayed.

It works similarly to Airplay if you’re familiar with that.

Essentially, you choose what screen you want the app or video to appear on and proceed as usual.

It can also be compared to screen mirroring.

To use Chromecast to put Facebook on your Google Nest Hub, follow these steps:

  1. Open up your Facebook app.
  2. Verbally command the Chromecast to move to the Google Nest Hub.
  3. From here, Facebook should begin playing on the Google Nest Hub.
  4. Once connected, you’ll be able to browse through the app, make status updates, watch videos, and even message other people. However, if you want to communicate with others, you’ll be redirected to the Messenger app.

Facebook isn’t the only app you can use for this.

In fact, you can do it with just about any app on your phone.

However, it can become challenging because you always need to have your phone nearby during this time.

Overall, using Facebook on the Google Nest Hub isn’t too different from using it on your phone.

The biggest advantage is that you get to interact on a bit larger screen.

However, the same thing can be accomplished through a different tablet as well.

Are There Any Other Ways To Use Facebook Without Using Chromecast?

Currently, the only way to use Facebook on the Google Nest Hub is through Chromecast.

The Nest Hub is built to support certain apps and platforms, and unfortunately, Facebook isn’t one of them.

If you don’t want to go through all the trouble of using Facebook through Chromecast, it may be better to continue using it on your phone or computer instead.

However, using it on the Nest Hub can be enormously helpful.

Other Things You Can Do With the Google Nest Hub

While you may have some challenges using the Google Nest Hub to use Facebook specifically, there are many other things that you can do with your Nest Hub. Let’s get into some of these.

Using Nest Hub for Videos

One of the best things about the Google Nest Hub is using it to watch videos.

The best part of the Nest Hub is that you don’t have to control it with your hands, but rather, you can control the entire thing with only your voice.

To use Nest Hub to play videos, simply tell the Nest Hub whatever you want it to play.

You can be as specific or general as you’d like as long as there are videos available to play on YouTube.

The videos must be available on YouTube since, at this time, this is all that the Nest Hub supports.

Using Nest Hub To Display Photos

Another thing that you can do with your Google Nest Hub is to use it for displaying photos.

Many people are using digital photo frames today, and the Nest Hub is an excellent resource for this.

Usually, it’s used to display photos when the Nest Hub is in screensaver mode.

You can make the Nest Hub display photos by going into your settings and choosing Photo Frame

Using Nest Hub as a Camera

One more neat thing you can do with the Nest Hub, specifically the Nest Hub Max, is video chat or take pictures, or even as a security camera if necessary.

You’ll need to go in and set up the nest cam to make this work.

You’ll be taken through a process of enabling the Nest Hub to record video, and then later, you’ll be able to tap into a live feed.

From here, you can edit how you want the video shown, whether or not you want recordings, and so on.

Can I Use Facebook on Google Nest Hub? Final Thoughts

In the end, while Google Nest Hub has many great features, it’s not best used for Facebook.

However, this doesn’t mean it can’t be used for Facebook.

To use Facebook on the Nest Hub, you must do it through Chromecast.

As a reminder, Chromecast simply takes what’s playing on one device and plays it on another.

Even if you don’t use your Nest Hub for Facebook, you can do many great things with it, including video chatting, displaying photos, and playing YouTube videos.
